Second Star to the Right and Straight on 'Til Morning

I finally saw Finding Neverland the other day at the behest of a friend: “It’s such a Maria movie – quirky and really funny but also sad.” Now that I’m writing it down, it looks so simple and strange – maybe it was the moment, maybe it was the excitement of seeing him for the first time in over a year, maybe it was how he said it…There I was, summed up in one sentence. Rendered definable, and comforted by it. There’s something so powerful and humbling in hearing such matter-of-fact declarations of love, understanding and respect from someone who probably doesn’t realize the impact one statement can make in reaffirming the reciprocity of those feelings for an old friend.

He was right about the movie, too – I cried nonstop tears of joy and sadness for the last hour and thought it was fantastic.
